FIRE DEPARTMENT PLANS TO RESTORE ORIGINAL 1957 FORD PUMPER

HISTORICAL WOOD CUT OUTS TO BE SOLD BY

HERCULANEUM FIRE DEPARTMENT

The Herculaneum Fire Department plans to restore the department's 1957 Ford Pumper built by Central Fire Truck Company of St. Louis.  The pumper was the first NEW pumper purchased by the fire department and replaced a 1936 General Monarch pumper which had seen previous service in Kirkwood, Missouri.

The department plans to have the pumper restored in time for the City of Herculaneum's 200th Anniversary in 2008.

To help offset the cost of the restoration, the fire department is selling wood cut outs of old buildings that were once located in Herculaneum.  The price per wood cut out will be between $10.00 and $15.00 each depending on the size and detail involved.

The first series of wood cut outs depict the following buildings in Herculaneum: the K P (Knights of Pythias) Hall, the IGA Supermarket (circa 1960's), the Roy E. Taylor Elementary Building (circa 1950's), the Assumption Catholic School (circa 1950's - 1960's) and the Herculaneum Public School (circa 1919).

The second series of wood cut outs depict the Herculaneum Baptist Church (circa 1950's), the Buren AME Chapel, the United Methodist Church of Herculaneum (present day), the Assumption Catholic Church (circa 1960's) and the Assembly of God Church (present day).

The third series of wood cut outs depict the Masonic Lodge, the Herculaneum Fire Station, the old fire hose cart sheds, the Douglass Elementary School, the Herky Gulf Station, Shelley Drug Store, Herculaneum High School (1960s) and the Athletic Field bleachers.

Future wood cut outs will include the Herculaneum Public Library,   the Green Lantern, Feck Furniture, the Campus Inn, the Riverview (Venita) Theater, Meese Bakery , Lupkey's Market,  Herculaneum Drug Company and other buildings of note.
